About Whisk & Pinstripe
INFORM – INSPIRE – GRAPPLE
Melissa Coade presents a ‘women in the law’ project series with a special focus on community legal issues in Sydney’s South West.
For those looking to engage with their local sphere, seek a professional outreach network or simply desire news relevant to their local needs, Whisk and Pinstripe is here.
Whether you find yourself in the wake of a nasty divorce or exchanging fierce words with your landlord, you stand in the shadow of the law.
Broadly classified into three categories, you may find yourself juggling at any one time:
-Criminal
-Family or
-Civil law matters
Family law continues to be the area of law affecting most women. Other major areas include domestic violence, victim’s compensation, sexual assault, debt, discrimination, wills and estates.
Where to go first is a question that often confounds people and appearing before a tribunal or court is not always the most desirable or cost-effective option. Surprisingly however there are many groups and organisations that provide free advice and information to help you navigate your way through the confusing legal maze. Access to the law, knowledge of changes to it and procedural advice can be found in some the links listed to the right of the homepage.
Whisk and Pinstripe is relevant to the everyday woman. In every person’s life there is a point of inception with the law that is likely to be overwhelming and confusing – this information is here to help. Check out the resource list of organisations appropriate to your situation, or simply use it as a window through which you are able to view life in your local community.
Enjoy!
